Motorsport Australia has confirmed this afternoon that Michael Anderson has not secured a Superlicence required to compete in the Repco Bathurst 1000.

The Anderson Motorsport Bathurst wildcard had been granted conditional approval in April to compete at this year’s Great Race.

The entry remains eligible for the race, although Anderson’s involvement as a driver is incumbent on a Superlicence.

"We can confirm that Michael Anderson has not been given a Superlicence," a Motorsport Australia spokesperson said.

Anderson is currently fielding a Dunlop Super3 Series entry for Brad Vaughan.

Bathurst-born Anderson won a Super3 race at Mount Panorama in 2021.

Anderson has acquired a Dick Johnson Racing-built Mustang for this year’s Great Race.

The entry will feature minimal technical support from DJR, with the Stapylton-based squad issuing a statement after reports first broke of Anderson’s wildcard.

It is one of four wildcards currently entered in this year’s Great Race.

Triple Eight (Craig Lowndes and Declan Fraser), Erebus (Greg Murphy and Richie Stanaway) and Matt Chahda Motorsport (Matt Chahda and one other to-be-named driver) will also enter the event.

Tickets for this year's Repco Bathurst 1000 are on sale now.
