Chaz Mostert and Nick Percat have been left wanting by a lowly run in Perth.
The Walkinshaw Andretti United teammates will start 23rd and 25th for Saturday’s Race 10.
On paper, the qualifying result should be no surprise; Mostert was 19th in both practice sessions.
Percat, meanwhile, was 12th and 20th.
It’s a particular disaster for Mostert, who enters the weekend third in the championship.
“It’s a little bit of a weakness here this weekend,” Mostert said.
“For whatever reason, the track this weekend is highlighting quite a big issue for us.
“The whole crew at WAU is trying really hard to turn it around.
“Two-day meetings make it pretty hard, if we had Friday we’d realise the problem we’d have.
“Someone’s gotta finish 23rd and 25th sometimes… not an ideal day for us.
“We’ll have to earn our biccies for the race.”
Percat cut an even more frustrated figure, admitting the team's pace was genuine.
“It’s hard, isn’t it. It’s bad, it’s legit for both of us,” Percat said.
“Not really sure what to say. It doesn’t feel like I should be last.
“The lap time just comes on the dash and I’m like, ‘Alright, that’s us’.
“A lot of work to do, we’re pushing to get it done… we’ll dig deep.
The floodlit Bunnings Trade Perth SuperNight opener will start at 6:40pm local time.
