Ministry of Sound takes centre stage at NTI Townsville 500

Ministry of Sound, the world’s leading authority in dance music, is set to make history as the headline entertainment at the NTI Townsville 500.

It will be the first time in history that Ministry of Sound’s Classical show has appeared in Townsville, performing under the famous Big Top after the first ever Supercars race in Townsville to feature the Gen3 Chevrolet Camaros and Ford Mustangs on Saturday 8 July.

Classical features The Ministry of Sound Orchestra with award-winning conductor Vanessa Perica at the helm, reimagining the very best music that has made Ministry of Sound an iconic brand since emerging from a London club night in 1991.

Celebrating 30 years of Ministry of Sound, the performance will feature renditions of timeless tracks by acclaimed artists such as Groove Armada, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Fatboy Slim, Underworld, Moby and more, brought to life by an incredible orchestra, accompanied by live vocals.

Adding to the excitement, Ministry of Sound will be joined by the sensational Australian DJ Groove Terminator.

Groove Terminator is an icon of the Australian electronic music scene as both an artist, a DJ, a remixer and a performer, and his collaboration in Townsville with Ministry of Sound promises to take the NTI Townsville 500 to new heights.

Supercars CEO Shane Howard said “This ground-breaking partnership between Supercars and Ministry of Sound underscores our commitment to providing a world-class experience for fans of all ages as part of our annual visit to North Queensland.

From the inaugural Gen3 races to the iconic Ministry of Sound show, this year’s event promises to be one of the biggest in our 14 year history in Townsville.

“We hope to see fans from around Australia take advantage of North Queensland’s warm winter weather and join us for this year’s event in July.”

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said Council was proud to be supporting the return of Supercars to the north.

“Council has worked closely with Supercars for many years to secure the high octane event for Townsville, and I’m excited to see the showstopping event back in the city this winter,” Cr Hill said.

“As a Council we are focused on growing Townsville into a sustainable destination that embraces the arts and sports. Ministry of Sound headlining the NTI Townsville 500 is the perfect intersection of culture and I can’t wait to get amongst the action next month.”

The NTI Townsville 500 is one of the biggest on the Supercars calendar has become a staple on the Australian sporting calendar, renowned for its electrifying atmosphere and high-octane action on and off track.

Also on track at this year’s NTI Townsville 500 will be some of the best support categories in the country, including the Dunlop Super2 and Dunlop Super3 Series, the Porsche Carrera Cup, Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 Series and the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series.
