By virtue of Shane van Gisbergen's unbeaten start to the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship, Holden's final Supercars model is edging towards a serious spot in the history books.

Van Gisbergen has claimed all five wins on offer this season across the Bathurst and Sandown events.

Sunday's Race 5 win at Sandown was not only van Gisbergen's 45th career win, but the 45th win for the Commodore ZB model.

The ZB made its championship debut in 2018, with van Gisbergen winning on its debut on the streets of Adelaide in 2018.

Van Gisbergen has won 21 of the model's 45 races since it hit the track three years ago.

With van Gisbergen's Sandown sweep, the ZB moved alongside the Commodore VX and Ford Falcon FG X into sixth on the all-time list.

The ZB can finish the 2021 season as high as third on the all-time list. It needs 18 more wins in the remaining 26 races to overtake the Commodore VT (63 wins), Falcon FG (55) and Falcon BA (51).

The ZB and Mustang GT, which made its debut in 2019, began the 2021 season locked in combat to bring up 50 wins.

With 26 races remaining, the momentum is with the ZB, with the model winning three of its four races at the season's next event in Tasmania.

The Repco Supercars Championship field will return to Symmons Plains for the Beaurepaires Tasmania SuperSprint across April 10-11. Tickets are on sale now.

The event will be broadcast live on Foxtel and will be streamed on Kayo.
