Broc Feeney has labelled his breakthrough VALO Adelaide 500 victory as the best moment of his young life.

Feeney outlasted Saturday winner Chaz Mostert to win an enthralling Race 34.

The 20-year-old became the youngest ever Adelaide winner, and second youngest winner ever.

The all-time record belongs to Scott McLaughlin, who was aged just 19 when he won at Pukekohe in 2013.

Feeney qualified fourth for the 78-lap race and jumped to the lead on lap 24.

From there, he drove a race beyond his years to hang on by 0.9s.

It completed a remarkable piece of synergy — Feeney, a Triple Eight rookie, took his first win in Adelaide with the #88.

Jamie Whincup, the driver Feeney replaced, did exactly the same in 2006 — when Feeney was just three years old.

Feeney also goes down as Holden’s last ever race winner in Supercars, something that wasn’t lost on the youngster.

"I can't believe it,” an overjoyed Feeney said.

"It's been an awesome year, I felt like the win's always been close.

"To get it at the last race in front of all these fans for Holden, it means so much.

"To everyone who's supported me, it's been one hell of a ride.

"In that race, I was out to show next year I can hopefully be a contender.”

Feeney won the race to replace Whincup off the back of his Super2 performance last year.

He claimed podiums in Tasmania and Sandown, but victory evaded him to this point.

Come Sunday, and Feeney was peerless en route to victory as he became the 83rd driver to win an ATCC/Supercars race.

Mostert applied heavy pressure in the closing laps, but Feeney had just enough to bring home Triple Eight’s 190th win in a Commodore.

Feeney praised engineer Martin Short for keeping him calm while in the furnace, and has already cast his gaze to 2023.

“Chaz had me under pressure, but I felt we had a bit more speed,” Feeney said.

“Those last few laps were pretty tough, just trying to stay focused.

“I'm always going to remember this one, the last one for Holden, my first ever win.

“I was pretty zoned in, they were just trying to keep me calm.

“I was under a lot of pressure for the whole race, but I had a wicked car.

“I don’t know what to say… it’s probably the best moment of my life so far.

“Everyone who’s supported me… it’s only the beginning.”

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle next March.

Tickets are on sale on Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.
