James Courtney is in for a big October, with the Tickford Racing driver expecting his first child with fiancé Tegan Woodford.

Courtney’s new addition is due to arrive during an already busy month for all Supercars drivers.

Drivers and teams will tackle the marquee Bathurst 1000 and Gold Coast 500 events.

The baby boy will be Courtney’s third child, and Woodford’s first.

The couple is crossing their fingers the baby arrives on schedule.

Critically, the due date falls during the break between the Great Race and the Gold Coast 500.

Courtney, 42, will share his #5 Snowy Rivers Ford with Zane Goddard, who is keen to perform in a bid to score a 2023 seat.

Gold Coast-based Courtney will travel to Mount Panorama as planned for the October 6-9 event.

However, his 17th Bathurst start will come with external weight.

“The plan is for him not to arrive when I’m in Bathurst,” Courtney joked to Supercars.com.

“If the little fella does come early, I guess I’ll be watching the birth on FaceTime between stints.”

Courtney heads to Bathurst in the wake of a bruising round in Pukekohe.

The 2010 champion slipped outside the top 10 after being involved in a number of incidents.

Courtney's weekend ended in the Turn 1 barriers following a second four-wide clash in as many days.

The four-time Bathurst podium-finisher has had success this season, however, in the form of Perth and Tailem Bend podiums.

The Perth podium came amid the announcement Woodford had fallen pregnant.

The pair became engaged in January.

Courtney will become the third driver to welcome a new addition to the family.

Jamie Whincup welcomed his first child prior to the season.

Tim Slade later announced he and fiancé Dani Byrnes are expecting their second child in early 2023.

Tickets for the Repco Bathurst 1000 are available on Supercars.com and Ticketek.
