The final Albert Park race provided solace for Erebus Motorsport after a “chaotic” weekend for the team.

Brodie Kostecki and Will Brown crossed the line fifth and eighth in Race 9, which was won by Chaz Mostert.

Brown marked his 50th career race with a run from 15th to eighth.

Prior to Sunday, Brown had had a nightmare, recording finishes of 17th, 23rd and 24th.

Kostecki, meanwhile bookended a Race 7 top 10 with finishes of 13th and 15th.

Come Sunday, and Kostecki had done enough to sit sixth overall for the weekend.

“We finally had a bit of car speed,” Kostecki said.

“Started ninth and ended up P5 which is pretty cool.

“It’s been a chaotic weekend, so it’s been good to end it on a high note.”

Brown made up four spots by the first corner, and stopped at the end of lap 4 for fresh tyres.

Kostecki and Brown were seventh and ninth, which became fifth and eighth after Shane van Gisbergen blew a tyre and Cam Waters was penalised.

For Brown, ending the weekend with a top 10 was reward for improved car pace.

“Starting 15th, I was hoping to move through the field,” Brown said.

“We were able to do that, got to P8 in the end. We had good pace, but I think Brodie’s was a little bit better.

“We got caught out in the pits with people coming out. Overall, a good day, we found some car pace and got P5 and P8.

“It’s more what we’re looking for. We’ll work on it and look forward to the next round.”

The 2022 season will resume at Wanneroo Raceway later this month.
