The ARMOR ALL Pole Award will continue to be a feature of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship for the 13th consecutive season with one of the world’s leading car care companies re-signing with the category for 2017.

The announcement sees ARMOR ALL remain the longest serving official sponsor of the Supercars Championship.

Fittingly, the announcement was made today by the first ever ARMOR ALL Pole Position Award winner, Mark Skaife during the ARMOR ALL Top 10 Shootout for this weekend’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

ARMOR ALL, began it’s association with the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship in 2005 and has awarded more than $1 million in prizemoney to the top qualifiers through ARMOR ALL Qualifying at every championship event, the ARMOR ALL Pole Position Award and the ARMOR ALL Top Ten Shootout.

The brand will continue as the Official Car Care Products partner of the Championship as well as the Pole Award presenter for the Dunlop Supercars Development Series.

Supercars CEO, James Warburton applauded the return of ARMOR ALL and the extension of the ARMOR ALL Pole Award which has become one of the most recognised in Australian sport.

“Since 2005, ARMOR ALL has been a critical part of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship,” said Warburton.

“The ARMOR ALL Pole Award is a valuable target for all of our drivers at every round of the championship and we are delighted to have Paul Blair and his ARMOR ALL team with us again next season.”

Paul Blair, General Manager Spectrum Brands Global Auto Care Asia Pacific, said everyone involved with ARMOR ALL was excited to once again be closely aligned with the region’s leading motorsport category.

“ARMOR ALL stands for high quality and performance, just like the Supercars Series,” said Blair.

“ARMOR ALL and Spectrum Brands have a long and proud history in motorsport across the globe and the Supercars ARMOR ALL Pole Award is one of the most instantly recognisable sponsorships.

“With an exciting new grand final coming up in Newcastle, a return to New Zealand, new activations and the support from the fans - who keep their own cars looking great with ARMOR ALL, we can’t wait for the 2017 Supercars Championship.

“In the meantime, we are looking forward to a classic finish to this year’s title chase and awarding our annual ARMOR ALL Pole Award for the season’s best qualifier at the season gala in December.”

Overall, 27 drivers have accepted a Pole Position cheque from the ARMOR ALL Team and Arnie the ARMOR ALL mascot in pitlane.

Three new names have been added to that list in 2016 include Scott Pye, Cameron Waters and Chris Pither.

Jamie Whincup is in line to collect his record seventh end of season Pole Award, has edged ahead in the race for 2016's Pole Award after this afternoon's Top 10 Shootout with four poles this season.

Whincup has more individual pole positions than any other driver to his credit in Australian Touring Car Championship history - today taking his overall tally to 71.

ARMOR ALL is a leading producer of car care products including wash, polishes, wheel and tyre maintenance, interior maintenance and air fresheners - the majority of which are formulated and made in Australia for the harsh Australian conditions.
