Star recruit Brodie Kostecki unveiled in DJR colours
Kostecki to join rivals at Sydney test day on February 19
2023 champ arrives at DJR from Erebus Motorsport
Dick Johnson Racing has offered a first look at Brodie Kostecki in Shell V-Power Racing Team colours, ahead of the 2023 Supercars champion's first race with the team.
DJR posted an image of Kostecki wearing team attire to its social media channels, with the 2023 Supercars champion posing at the squad's Queensland headquarters.
It's the first time the reigning Bathurst champion has been seen in Shell V-Power red, following the eight-time Supercars race winner's move from Erebus Motorsport in the off-season. Kostecki was announced at DJR last August, but was unveiled to media in casual attire, given his ongoing contractual ties to Erebus.
The 27-year-old will join teammate Will Davison and their rivals at the all-in test day at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 19, before Round 1 on February 21-23.
The Ford team signed Kostecki as a key part of its desire to return to glory, something Kostecki alluded to before the 2024 season finale in Adelaide.
“[David Noble, DJR CEO] and the ‘the Doc’, Ryan Story, who are part of the consortium that run Shell V-Power Racing, they wanted someone who could bring the team back in form,” Kostecki said at the time.
“They've had a bit of a lacklustre last few years, and I’m good mates with Scott McLaughlin, who’s over in the States racing IndyCar.
“I got a text message saying we should catch up, and the rest is history, and a few weeks later, I was signed."
Kostecki has been followed to DJR by engineers George Commins and Tom Moore, with the team to race Erebus-built chassis in 2025.
Team boss Story is keeping the pressure off the team, which has one win in 52 starts in the Gen3 era, shifting attention to being strong at the business end of the season.
"Look, the great thing about the Finals system is that it really gives us an opportunity to get our shit together," Story said after Adelaide.
"We get our shit together, hover in the 10, that's the target, hover in the 10, accrue points, get ourselves sorted.
"Because, look, we're not gonna roll out of the box at Round 1 and be at the peak of our powers. It's going to take us some time, and we need to use that time wisely.
"I think it's a fantastic opportunity for us to really spend the year to get our shit sorted, and really fire when it counts."
Tickets for the season-opening round in Sydney, on February 21-23, are on sale now.
