Brodie Kostecki claimed 149th pole 149th win for Dick Johnson Racing
Kostecki currently sixth in points, with three poles and a win through seven rounds
DJR's arch-rivals Triple Eight have 300 podiums, 150 wins and 150 poles
It took longer than he wanted, but Brodie Kostecki is finally a winner for Dick Johnson Racing.
At the 20th attempt, the 2023 Supercars champion finally tasted victory in Shell V-Power Racing Team colours, dominating the NTI Townsville 500 opener.
While Kostecki and DJR fell away as the weekend wore on, no one can take away what driver and team combined to achieve at Reid Park.
Only 13 drivers have tasted victory in a DJR Ford in a points-paying race, with Scott McLaughlin (48), eponymous team owner Johnson (30) and the legendary John Bowe (30) leading the way.
What's more, is Kostecki's pole-to-win performance brought DJR within striking distance of a three-pronged milestone only achieved by arch-rivals Triple Eight Race Engineering.
With pole and victory, Kostecki pushed the Shell V-Power Racing Team's pole and win tallies from 148 to 149.
DJR is now one pole away from 150 poles, and one win away from 150 wins. Once it hits both benchmarks, DJR will join Triple Eight as the only teams to claim 300 podiums, 150 wins and 150 poles.
Broc Feeney's incredible run this season has taken Triple Eight to 273 wins, 179 poles and 556 podiums.
It has been a big year for team milestones, with Walkinshaw Andretti United reeling off its 300th podium and 100th pole position, both numbers hit in Perth in June.
While his team dropped off the front in Townsville, DJR CEO David Noble didn't want to put a dampener on Friday's achievement, saying in a Ford Performance release: “A bittersweet weekend for us. This sport can turn you upside down, not just from one day to another but from one session to another.
"It’s easy to leave Townsville saying we’re not where we want to be, but the reality is we cannot lose sight of what we achieved on Friday with Brodie Kostecki.
“It definitely feels like we’re moving forward. It comes with a bit of time. But there are things we’ve got to continue to work on."
