Brad Jones Racing is continuing efforts to repair the chassis that was damaged in a violent accident for Jaxon Evans in Adelaide late last season.

The chassis swap comes amid ongoing repairs to Evans’ 2024 car, chassis BJR-015, which sustained significant damage in a high-speed crash last November.

On the final day of the 2024 season, Evans crashed heavily in qualifying at Adelaide’s infamous Turn 8 sweeper, with the #50 SCT Logistics Chevrolet copping major front and rear damage.

BJR initially attempted to repair the car in time for the race, but Evans was ultimately ruled out due to concussion symptoms.

In the days after the crash, BJR's initial assessment uncovered significant front-end damage. Two months on, team owner Jones revealed there is more work to be done following further assessments.

“The front clip has been a throwaway part… but you can see how far out that chassis is,” Jones said in the team’s latest video.

“It needs to go back to the fabrication shop and go on the jig. The firewall, it's lifted through these bars. I'd say all that is going to have to be cut out and, and replaced.

"So obviously there's a lot of work that's going to be done… a lot of the stuff we have to take out of to be able to actually mount it on the jig to work out whether it's straight or not.

"The impact… even this cover which is really for the gear selector, is bent. So, so everything's taken a huge knock over to the right of the car.

“We've got a bit of damage. But we won't know everything that's wrong with it until we actually get it down to the fabrication shop and put it on the jig.”

Heimgartner and Evans will be joined by Bryce Fullwood and Macauley Jones in an unchanged line-up for the 2025 season, which gets underway in Sydney on February 21-23.
