After a frustrating two years as a full-timer, highly-touted Kiwi Jaxon Evans gets his big break in the entry that went agonisingly close to a Bathurst win last year.
Jaxon Evans endured a frustrating two year stint in Supercars with SCT Motorsport and Brad Jones Racing, only showing brief glimpses of the talent that elevated him to some of the biggest stages in world motorsport.
However, the Kiwi has landed on his feet, landing a drive at Walkinshaw TWG Racing alongside rapid countryman Ryan Wood, who will be looking to avenge a heartbreaking Bathurst near miss in 2025.
It brings Evans' Supercars journey full-circle, having tested a Walkinshaw Commodore in 2018 as part of a driver evaluation day.
Evans is a third-generation Kiwi racer who started out in Australia and later took his his sports car career to Europe.
Travelling to Europe as a contracted Porsche junior, he also competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship and select races of the NLS Nürburgring Endurance Series.
Evans competed the 2014 New Zealand KZ2 Kart Championship and finished second. At 17, he was invited to test a Porsche 911 Cup car at Queensland Raceway. At 22, he won the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup Championship.
He jetted off to Europe in 2019 and joined the Porsche Junior program, and finished as the number one rookie in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland in 2019 before winning the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup France title.
Evans also made his FIA World Endurance Championship debut in 2020, and christened the occasion with third in the GTE-AM class.
He signed as a full-time driver for Dempsey Proton Racing in 2021 and competed in the full FIA WEC season, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
His career returned to the Southern Hemisphere in 2022, landing a Bathurst debut alongside Jack Smith at SCT's BJR-run operation.
Evans was one of seven Bathurst debutants on the 2022 Bathurst grid, but was arguably the most decorated. He returned for 2023, and motored through the field at Sandown and Bathurst to put the Supercars paddock on notice.
Evans has remained a fixture of the local GT scene, winning the Pro-Am class at the 2025 Bathurst 12 Hour, and finishing runner-up in last year's GT World Challenge Australia standings.
