One number has found a new home from 2023
Three new numbers come in for the new season
Five numbers from 2023 won't return this year
There will be new drivers and new numbers when the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship gets underway at the Thrifty Bathurst 500.
Ahead of the new season. Supercars.com breaks down the new numbers to look out for.
What's moved
Firstly, one number has found a new home in 2024. The #4 has shifted from Brad Jones Racing to Matt Stone Racing, which is celebrating 20 years since Marcos Ambrose's double title triumph.
What's in
The #10 and the #12 return for the first time since 2022 and 2020 respectively, while the #87 returns for the first time since the 2002 Bathurst 1000.
The #10, which will be used by Nick Percat and MSR, was last used by Lee Holdsworth at Penrite Racing in 2022.
Jaxon Evans, meanwhile, picks up the #12 at BJR after the #4 was shipped off to MSR. The #12 was last used by countryman Fabian Coulthard at DJR Team Penske between 2016 and 2020.
Then, there's the #87 for Will Brown, with the number last used by Allan Grice in the 2002 Great Race. The #87 is a new number for Triple Eight, and is linear with Broc Feeney's #88.
The #7, which was used by Blanchard Racing Team on its 2023 enduro wildcard, will be used by recruit James Courtney on the Snowy River Caravans Ford.
What's out
Five numbers from the 2023 season won't be on the grid in Bathurst. Notably, Shane van Gisbergen's #97 has been moved aside for Brown's #87, but van Gisbergen will keep his signature digits alive in NASCAR.
Tickford Racing, meanwhile, has benched its iconic #5, as well as the #56. Tickford used the #5 between 2003 and 2023, sans 2016, when Mark Winterbottom ran the #1 for his title defence.
Then, there's the #34 and #35, which MSR moved aside for the #4 and #10.
Who else has new numbers?
Walkinshaw Andretti United's #2 will be inherited by rookie Ryan Wood, as will BRT's #3 for Aaron Love.
Erebus Motorsport retains its #9 and #99 for Jack Le Brocq and Todd Hazelwood respectively, with the #1 sidelined with Brodie Kostecki out for Round 1.
Richie Stanaway takes the #26 at Penrite Racing, with David Reynolds taking the #20 at Team 18, which was vacated by Scott Pye.
