At just 19 years of age, Rylan Gray has landed a plum drive with the famed Dick Johnson Racing, and will become the team's youngest-ever full-time driver at the opening round in Sydney.

Gray was the class of the field in last year's Dunlop Super2 Series, winning four of the 12 races held on route to a dominant title win for Tickford Autosport.

He also made his main game debut in a wildcard Tickford Mustang in Darwin last year, before combining with Super2 teammate Lochie Dalton for the Ryco Enduro Cup, finishing an impressive 13th at Bathurst.

Born and raised in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, Gray started racing in motocross at just two years of age, and made his first steps into four wheeled racing at age 14, skipping karting altogether.

Starting off in Hyundai Excels, Gray quickly progressed into Toyota 86 competition, and claimed Rookie of the Year honours in the New Zealand title in 2023, winning a guest drive in German GT4 at the Nürburgring in the process.

Gray was also signed to Tickford Autosport in 2023, and was a race winner in the Australian Toyota 86 series, before making his Super3 debut in a Tickford FGX Falcon in Adelaide just days after turning 17.

Gray created history last year in his rookie Super2 campaign, becoming the youngest-ever Dunlop Super2 Series round winner at the 2024 Repco Bathurst 1000, aged just 17 years, 10 months, and 21 days old.

Gray has also become firmly entrenched within the Ford Racing family, and became the first driver to win a race in a Ford Mustang GT4 outside of North America at Phillip Island in 2024.

The teenager finished second in the GT4 Australia Series Silver Cup in both 2024 and 2025 alongside George Miedecke, winning nine races in 24 starts.
