Jordan Boys felt he belonged in the main game after a standout Sunday in Tailem Bend.

The Albury driver’s 2022 wildcard programme ended with a bang with a superb Sunday.

Boys, racing an Erebus-backed Image Racing Commodore, finished 11th in the first Sunday race.

He backed it up with 16th in the finale, and after two rounds, accrued the most points out of the three wildcards.

Boys finished all six races at Winton and The Bend, and scored 168 points.

Zak Best raced in Darwin and Tailem Bend and scored 162 points.

The Tickford Racing driver suffered two DNFs, but scored a shock pole and top five last weekend.

Jayden Ojeda tallied 150 points at Winton and Darwin, with highs of 17th at both rounds.

“I was happy with the progress we made,” Boys told Supercars’ Cool Down Lap podcast.

“I felt like I showed I belonged.

“I would’ve liked to have gone a little bit better on Saturday, I was disappointed with the qualy and race result.

“Overall, pretty happy.”

Boys recorded finishes of 25th, 25th and 24th at Winton, leaving him hungry to convert at The Bend.

Boys (#49) kept his nose clean on Sunday

A pre-event test day with Erebus helped Boys fine-tune himself for the OTR SuperSprint.

He responded in kind, handing him confidence ahead of his next major task.

Boys will race with Macauley Jones at October’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

“It’s been great,” he said.

"I was glad we had today, because it had been kinda disappointing until now,” he said of Sunday.

“It was a great day today. Still tough in qualifying, but good race pace.

“Promising signs."

Boys will complete an Additional Driver session at the Penrite Oil Sandown SuperSprint.

Cars will hit the track Sandown on August 19-21. Purchase your tickets now.
