The tyre ratification test at Phillip Island is underway with Nick Percat behind the wheel of the Holden Commodore Car of the Future prototype.
The test will assess tyre performance at the newly resurfaced circuit, after issues throughout the running of the MotoGP on the track, ahead of V8 Supercars event the Sargent Security Phillip Island 360, to run from November 22-24.
The event will be the last to host the 60/60 Super Sprint format – so both 60km and 100km runs will be simulated by Percat to reflect the race distances.
While the car is liveried in Xbox colours, it is not the Triple Eight Race Engineering Commodore driven by internationals Mattias Ekstrom and Andy Priaulx at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000. It was used for promotional purposes at the event, though, hence the bright green colour scheme.
The Ekstrom/Priaulx entry was Triple Eight’s first built COTF, now used as the team’s ride car.
The announcement of the tyre test has been met with positive feedback. Holden Racing Team’s Garth Tander, who paired with Percat through the PIRTEK Enduro Cup, posted this comment on Facebook earlier in the week:
