Shane van Gisbergen has one hand on the 2021 title, and the fight for second in the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship is also all but set.
Jamie Whincup is 337 points behind Red Bull Ampol Racing teammate van Gisbergen heading to this weekend’s penultimate round in Sydney.
Whincup, however, is 192 points ahead of Will Davison in the fight for second in the standings.
As such, Red Bull Ampol Racing is in the box seat to secure an historic one-two championship finish.
Only six teams in history have achieved the feat, and Triple Eight Race Engineering is eyeing an unprecedented fifth instance of the achievement.
Van Gisbergen defeated Whincup to the 2016 title in their first season as teammates.
Dick Johnson Racing (1998, 1989) and Gibson Motorsport (1991, 1992) scored two championship quinellas each.
Moffat Ford Dealers finished first and second in 1977, with Allan Moffat and Colin Bond helping Ford to famous season and Bathurst results.

The late 1980s belonged to DJR, Dick Johnson, John Bowe and a pair of Shell-backed Ford Sierra RS500s.
Johnson and Bowe combined to win eight of nine rounds in 1988 and six of eight in 1989. Johnson was champion on both occasions.
The final years of Group A belonged to Gibson Motorsport, with Jim Richards and Mark Skaife winning 11 of 18 rounds across 1991 and 1992 in their Nissan GT-Rs.
Richards narrowly beat Skaife to the 1991 title, before Skaife bounced back and took his first championship 12 months later.

Glenn Seton Racing finished one-two in 1993, with Seton beating 1980 Formula One champion and teammate Alan Jones.
In 2004, Stone Brothers Racing’s second title season saw Marcos Ambrose finish ahead of Russell Ingall.
Ingall won the 2005 title 12 months later, with Ambrose third behind Craig Lowndes.
Lowndes finished behind Whincup three years in a row between 2011 and 2013, with Triple Eight scoring a hat-trick of title quinellas.

Triple Eight was also the first Holden team to achieve the feat in 2011.
