Track build underway for biggest NTI Townsville 500 yet
Tickets on sale for North Queensland’s biggest annual sporting event
24 days to go until engines roar back to life at Reid Park
Construction has officially commenced on the street circuit for North Queensland’s biggest annual sporting event – the 2025 NTI Townsville 500 – with just 24 days to go until engines roar back to life at Reid Park.
From 11–13 July, the 2025 edition of the Repco Supercars Championship’s Townsville event is set to deliver its biggest celebration yet, with three full days of racing, Pro Bull Riding, Summernats displays and plenty of adrenaline-fuelled action – and preparations are now in full swing.
Crews of contractors today began installing barricades and more than 13 kilometres of fencing to transform the 2.86km circuit into a world-class motorsport facility.
SCT Logistics Chevrolet Camaro driver Jaxon Evans, Dunlop Super2 Series drivers Nash Morris and Jarrod Hughes, and Townsville’s Toyota Gazoo Racing 86 Series teenager Lachlan Evennett joined Event Manager Matt Ramsden on site to mark the beginning of the build.
Ramsden said this year’s event is shaping up to be the biggest and boldest in Townsville’s Supercars history.
“It’s always a great moment when we begin the build – it means we’re officially on the countdown to race weekend,” Ramsden said.
“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to deliver an even bigger event in 2025, and we’re proud to be bringing fans more on and off-track entertainment than ever before.
“One of the best things about this build is working with so many local companies. A number of contractors have been with us since day one back in 2009, and this event simply wouldn’t be possible without them.
“It’s a huge operation – and this year it includes a Pro Bull Riding Ring, a custom built skidpan for the Summernats Pro Burnout and drift competition and more car displays than ever before, plus we have begun the build on corporate facilities to host over 3,500 guests. Every year it’s a massive team effort.”
In 2025, the NTI Townsville 500 will feature Supercars racing across all three days for the first time ever, plus a new-look Track to Town Parade on Thursday 10 July that will see all 24 Supercars roll through the heart of the city to kickstart the festivities.
The NTI Townsville 500 officially kicks off the official NTI Truck Parade from 12:00pm to 1:30pm on Wednesday 9 July, where fans will get the chance to see millions of dollars’ worth of Supercars roll through town and into the circuit. A fan zone will be set up at the Townsville sign near Palmer Street for exceptional viewing opportunities.
The NTI Townsville 500 is proudly supported by Townsville City Council and the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland. Tickets are available now at Supercars.com.
