The iconic 'swim between the flags' message will receive a high-octane makeover this weekend when Team Jeld-Wen partners with Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) at the Castrol Edge Gold Coast 600.
Team Jeld-Wen will be driving home the surf safety message - quite literally - with much of the Falcon's regular promotional paintwork making way for a sea of red and yellow messaging in a bid to raise awareness and much-needed funds for lifesavers this summer.
Drivers Jack Perkins and Cameron Waters, along with the rest of the team, will also be jumping on board by wearing specially designed red and yellow uniforms in support of volunteer surf lifesavers.
SLSQ is once again the official charity partner of the Gold Coast 600, with the annual event providing a valuable opportunity for surf lifesavers to reach and educate the large crowds.
SLSQ chief operating officer George Hill said it was a great opportunity to remind people to swim between the flags this summer.
"We're always looking at new ways to get the surf safety message out to as many people as possible, and what better way than to have it zooming past hundreds of thousands of people across the weekend?" Hill said.
"Our vision as an organisation is to achieve 'zero preventable deaths in Queensland waters' and we see community awareness and education as playing a key role in delivering on that mission.
"This is a wonderful show of support from the Jeld-Wen team, its owners and its drivers, particularly ahead of the peak summer months."
Team Jeld-Wen owner Charlie Schwerkolt said the team is both proud and excited to be partnering with an iconic Queensland organisation in SLSQ.
"I love Queensland, and I love what SLSQ do for the people of Queensland. To be able to promote this extremely important safety message in the lead-up to summer is great for SLSQ, great for the team and great for V8 Supercars as a sport."
"If we can help in any small way to assist SLSQ in their goal to achieve 'zero preventable deaths in Queensland waters', then we're very proud to do so."
More good news for the team sees two new partners on the car for what is their local round this weekend.
Gold Coast businesses Total Traffic Solutions Group (TTS Group), a leader in the traffic and transport consulting industry, and popular Australian hotel brand, Mantra Hotels & Resorts have jumped on board, with the TTS logo to appear on the headlights of the #18 V8 Supercar and Mantra on the C-pillars.
"We're excited to have the backing of two great local brands in Mantra and the TTS Group. Partnering with local Gold Coast companies with a passion for both the region and motor racing is fantastic for our team, and we'll look to be strong challengers at the GC600," Schwerkolt said.
