Tim Slade is running an interim livery at today’s sydney.com V8 Supercars Test Day, his true 2014 colours remaining under wraps. An official launch at a top-secret location will reveal his full Supercheap Auto Racing livery in 10 days time.
“We’ve adopted the NASCAR-style testing livery for this weekend,” Slade told v8supercars.com.au. “It’s going to be a bit plainer…
“The car had a few different liveries last year, and I like it – I think it’s good to change it up through the year.”
Slade feels the 2014 look, when it comes out, will be something to get excited about.
“It’s a little bit different from last year – though I guess there’s only so much you can do when you have to work with the same base colours,” he said. “The car looks really, really good on a computer screen.”
Walkinshaw Racing’s Nick Percat also runs a testing livery this weekend, his Heavy Haulage Australia war paint to be unveiled at the second Championship event in Tasmania.
New Walkinshaw Racing recruit Slade cannot wait to get behind the wheel of his new Commodore this weekend, and while he knows results don't come overnight, he anticipates race wins in his future.
“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t see race wins. I guess I’ve done everything bar get a race win, so it’s definitely high up there on the list. I think as we improve the cars that will become a little easier to achieve.”
Slade will be on-track tomorrow for the two three and a half hour sessions at the sydney.com V8 Supercars Test Day at Sydney Motorsport Park. Attendance is free for fans, who have the chance to see all 25 V8 Supercars on track for the first time this season. Free undercover grandstand seating is available along the front straight.
Supercheap Auto Racing is running a social media competition over 10 days, which will ultimately announce the location of the #47 livery launch. Beginning today, a letter will be released each day in random order – fans will need to un-jumble to interpret the location.
