Supercars teams to honour late Tim Miles at NTI Townsville 500
Respected motorsport personality recently passed away in Sydney
Miles brokered two Supercars sales, was co-owner of Triple Eight
The late Tim Miles will be remembered by Supercars teams at the upcoming NTI Townsville 500, following the respected motorsport personality’s recent passing.
A racer in his youth in New Zealand, Miles loved motorsport, whether it be behind the wheel or behind pit wall.
In response to the tragic news of Miles' passing on the weekend, Penrite Racing owner Stephen Grove has spearheaded the creation of Miles-inspired decals.
Made in consultation with Tim's wife Tracey, the decals feature a tribute to Miles, along with the Kiwi bird and the #7, which he carried in GT World Challenge Australia this year.

The decals will be available for all team in Townsville this weekend, with the suggestion all cars run them on the rear screen.
Friends with the likes of team owners Andy McElrea and Paul Cruickshank, Miles was a founding member of Tasman Motorsport with Kevin Murphy in the mid-2000s.
In 2015, he returned to Supercars team ownership by way of investing in Triple Eight Race Engineering alongside founder Roland Dane with co-owners Paul Dumbrell and Trinette Schipkie.
Away from the track, Miles was a significant figure via his independent corporate advisory firm, brokering two sales of Supercars.
In 2011, he oversaw the sale of Supercars to Archer Capital. A decade later, Archer Capital enlisted Miles to sell it to Racing Australia Consolidated Enterprises (RACE Pty Ltd).
In recent years, Miles competed in Porsche Carrera Cup and GT racing, and was partnering Kiwi Brendon Leitch in this year’s GT World Challenge Australia.
He also lived out a dream in competing at Le Mans in Ford's Mustang Challenge, where rising star Cameron McLeod won both races.
The celebration of the late Tim Miles' life will be held at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth in the Sydney CBD on Friday, 18 July. The service will commence at 2:00pm local time.
The Supercars season will resume with the seventh round of 2025, the NTI Townsville 500, on July 11-13. Supercars drivers will contest races on all three days of the event. Tickets for the NTI Townsville 500 are on sale now. International viewers can watch the action on SuperView.
