While Will Brown versus Broc Feeney is likely to define 2025, there are several combinations that could make headlines this year

A blockbuster match-up between Will Brown and Broc Feeney at what is widely expected to still be Supercars' best team in 2025 means there are plenty more storylines to keep and eye out for this season.

While Brown versus Feeney is likely to define 2025, there are several driver and team combinations that could make headlines this year, right from Round 1.

Ahead of the new season, Supercars.com highlights six match-ups between drivers that could set the championship alight in 2025.

Cam Waters vs Thomas Randle

Cam Waters has firmly been Tickford Racing's best driver since 2020, but Thomas Randle made big strides forward last season to finish one position behind in the drivers' standings. Randle is still hunting his first win, and should Tickford remain on an upwards trajectory, expect both drivers to be winners in 2025. Waters is chasing his first championship and Bathurst victories, and while Randle is tipped by many to be his understudy, both drivers could find themselves in uncomfortable positions on track if they have to go head-to-head for wins.

Brodie Kostecki vs Will Davison

A series champion and Bathurst winner in the last two seasons, Brodie Kostecki makes the big leap to Dick Johnson Racing and Ford in 2025. It's a fascinating match-up, with Kostecki going up against veteran Will Davison. Both drivers will have new cars in 2025, and there has been plenty of change at DJR. At 42, Davison is closer to the end than the beginning of his career, but will be charged to make it count, given he got the nod to stay on with DJR for a fifth season. Kostecki, meanwhile, starts afresh after leaving Erebus. Which driver will get the upper hand first?

Matt Payne vs Kai Allen

Pitted against David Reynolds in his first season in 2023, Matt Payne went to another level in 2024, yet there is still the feeling that he has barely scratched the surface of his potential in Supercars. Payne will be partnered by 2023 Super2 champion Kai Allen, who could break records in 2025 should Penrite Racing crack the code with consistent car pace. Payne will be determined to remain the team's leading light, but Allen could emerge one of the surprise packets of the season.

Jack Le Brocq vs Cooper Murray

Erebus Motorsport's first season without Brodie Kostecki or Will Brown since 2020 will be led by veteran Jack Le Brocq and rookie Cooper Murray. Le Brocq claimed a pole in Townsville last season, but a podium was elusive. Murray is among the fastest young drivers in the country, and was a standout in his Triple Eight wildcard starts last season. Murray is confident, and could push Le Brocq to an extent that the team benefits big time.

James Golding vs Richie Stanaway

Richie Stanaway arrives at PremiAir Racing in the wake of a tough return to the full-time game with Penrite Racing. Golding had a breakout year in 2024, claiming his maiden pole position and podium in Supercars, and just missed out on fifth in the championship. There's no knowing how high PremiAir can fly in 2025, but the team seems on the up, and Stanaway will be keen to make this chance count. If both drivers are quick, the team will move forward.

Anton De Pasquale vs David Reynolds

A tough 2024 season featured just two podiums for Mark Winterbottom, who has been moved on for Anton De Pasquale. De Pasquale arrives from Dick Johnson Racing, where he spent four seasons and claimed multiple wins and pole positions. De Pasquale and Reynolds were teammates at Erebus between 2018 and 2020, and De Pasquale ended their stay arguably the stronger driver. Reynolds' first season with Team 18 was littered with few highs and big lows, and is determined to return to victory lane, as is De Pasquale. If Team 18 is on the pace, which driver will get there first?
