Record crowd turns out for 2026 DUNLOP Sydney 500
Sydney Motorsport Park welcomes largest Supercars weekend crowd ever
This year’s attendance marks a 14% increase on the 2025 event
Supercars has celebrated a bumper crowd at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend, with 52,419 fans attending the 2026 DUNLOP Sydney 500 — the largest weekend crowd ever recorded for a Supercars event at the venue.
The season-opening round of the Repco Supercars Championship delivered a program headlined by three days of racing, the hugely popular DUNLOP Free Friday initiative that granted free General Admission entry to all fans, and a Saturday night post-race concert by Aussie rock legends JET.
This year’s attendance marks a 14% increase on the 2025 event, underscoring the growing appeal of Supercars’ night race format and the strong momentum heading into the new season.
Supercars Chief Executive James Warburton thanked fans for turning out in force despite oppressive conditions, with daytime temperatures soaring well above 30 degrees, and even spots of rain.
“To see a record crowd at Sydney Motorsport Park for the opening round of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship is something we’re incredibly proud of,” Warburton said.
“Fans braved scorching temperatures throughout the weekend, and they have been treated to tremendous racing and entertainment in return.
“On behalf of Supercars, I want to thank everyone who came out to be part of this special weekend and helped us kick off the season in such a phenomenal way.”
The final race of the DUNLOP Sydney 500 begins at 4:05pm AEDT, with live coverage on Foxtel and the Seven Network.
The DUNLOP Sydney 500 is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
