Upgraded Symmons Plains welcomes Supercars in 2026
Iconic circuit sporting $1.2 million upgrades for 2026 event
Pit lane and paddock area, new barriers among upgrades
The 2026 Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440 will take place at a new-look Symmons Plains Raceway, amid a host of upgrades to the venue.
A three-year deal to keep Supercars at Symmons Plains commenced in 2025, with $1.2 million allocated to the venue by the state government.
Key works were planned for the venue following collaboration with operator Motorsports Tasmania, Supercars and Motorsport Australia.
The paddock area has been resealed with installation of new asphalt, a new underground drainage system, electrical infrastructure, and integrated cabling and conduits to support TV and broadcast communications.

Amenities in the main paddock area have also been improved, including new ceiling installations, full wall and floor tiling, new toilet fixtures, and expanded sewer capacity with new storage tanks and upgraded pumping systems.
Installation of a new lift and lift shaft to improve accessibility within the venue facilities is also coming.
Circuit-wide safety improvements have also been made in line with FIA recommendations.
These include replacement of tyre walls with Armco barriers, and general site clean-up and operational improvements across paddock and scrutineering areas.
Notably, a new Armco barrier was installed at Turn 2, while the Turn 4 hairpin has new tyre bundles.
These changes keep the circuit in line with latest Motorsport Australia and FIA standards.
Symmons Plains will host its 100th championship race on Saturday, with cars set to hit the track for practice from Friday afternoon.
