Red Bull Ampol Racing win 2026 PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge
Triple Eight defeated BJR in live final at Mount Panorama
Ford squad claim $20,000 prize, Golden Rattle Gun
Red Bull Ampol Racing are now two-time PIRTEK Pit Stop Challenge victors, beating Brad Jones Racing to the 2026 title in Bathurst.
Broc Feeney took on Andre Heimgartner in the live final at the Repco Bathurst 1000 Street Party, and it was a dominant win for the #88 Ford, despite running long into the makeshift pit bay.
Triple Eight take home $20,000 as the winners, as well as the perpetual Golden Rattle Gun, which they first claimed in 2024, also with Feeney's #88.
Repco Sprint Cup winner Feeney was wrapt to see his crew take home the title: "Don't interview me, these are the superstars. I've never been so excited to win, I was so nervous, I was shaking, I was sweating.
"These are the boys, don't worry about me, they've done a great job.
"We just know how proud they are, they put in so much effort into this, and it was a shame to miss out last year because our guys are so fast, we actually did four tyre stops all the time.
"Our time even to make it into this was really awesome, but they're training so much, nearly every day. They take so much pride in this, so we're chuffed.
"They got to go to America from winning this last time, so hopefully they're off again, but they do such a great job, so great reward for them."
Feeney's sentiment was echoed by Red Bull Ampol Racing Team Manager and car controller Mark Dutton: "You would not believe how hard they work. We get to work pretty early, and you'll often hear rattle guns going before six in the morning.
"Their work starts at seven, they're there an hour and a half early cracking out pit stop practice, they're so devoted. So proud."
Through the Sprint Cup, teams battled for points to be one of four finalists going head-to-head in Bathurst CBD.
Brad Jones Racing, Blanchard Racing Team, Red Bull Ampol Racing, and Matt Stone Racing progressed through as the four finalists, MSR pipping the combined BJR/SCT Motorsport crew by one point.
The semi-finals were split into first vs fourth, and second vs third, meaning BJR took on MSR in the first semi-final, with Heimgartner and Jack Le Brocq respectively.
The first semi was an action replay of last year's final, with BJR pipping MSR, and they would be joined by Triple Eight in the final, after Feeney got the chocolates over Aaron Cameron, complete with a playful helping of trash talk from both parties.
There was a slight hiccup before the final when Heimgartner's Toyota briefly refused to start, however once competition was underway, the Red Bull Ampol crew were clear victors.
On-track action commences tomorrow with two hour-long practice sessions at 1:30pm and 3:45pm local time.
