Brodie Kostecki on pole, disaster for Triple Eight
A resurgent Brodie Kostecki has claimed pole for the NTI Townsville 500 opener, but the big story heading into Friday's race concerns Red Bull Ampol Racing after double elimination.
The Shell V-Power Ford of Kostecki will launch from pole alongside Cam Waters' Darwin Triple Crown-winning Monster Energy Ford, with Bathurst champ Matt Payne and reigning champ Chaz Mostert on the second row.
Broc Feeney and Will Brown were 16th and 19th in qualifying, continuing Triple Eight Race Engineering's slump that began with a poor weekend by its lofty standards in Darwin.
Race 20 will commence at 4:15pm AEST. Fox Sports, Kayo Sports, and Sky NZ take live coverage. International fans can watch on SuperView.
