Hype builds as Supercars fleet arrives in New Zealand
Supercars cars and equipment make their way to Taupō
ITM NZ Double Header commences in Taupō on April 10-12
Anticipation is building to the inaugural ITM NZ Double Header, after Supercars cars and equipment make their way to Taupō.
For the first time, New Zealand will host two Supercars rounds, with Taupō and Christchurch to deliver championship racing on the North and South Islands.
Cars and equipment were loaded into containers following the Melbourne SuperSprint last month, and sea freighted across the Tasman to New Zealand.
The first load of team containers arrived at Taupō International Motorsport Park on Tuesday. A second vessel with team containers docked overnight, set for delivery to Taupō later this week.
The delivery completes a highly-planned and expertly-executed logistics effort, which ensured approximately $45 million of cars and equipment safely arrived in New Zealand from Australia.

Supercars, SeaLab and biosecurity staff are overseeing the unload and delivery effort, ahead of the first round of the Double Header, the ITM Taupō Super 440 on April 10-12.
The effort to get cars and equipment to New Zealand differs to Australian rounds; in the place of transporters are modified containers, which carry more than 200 tonnes of equipment.
The entire Supercars paddock was packed into 33 shipping containers. 22 containers carry either equipment and cars from teams, broadcast equipment for Supercars Media, or are used as communal containers.
Additionally, DUNLOP requires seven containers for tyres and technical equipment, while fuel suppliers Race Fuels bring two containers, as do trackside signage suppliers SignEvent.
All containers are scheduled to arrive in Taupō via truck over the Easter weekend on April 3-5, before racing comnences on the following weekend.
