The Destination NSW Sydney Test Day so far
Golding fastest
James Golding finished the Destination NSW Sydney Test Day as the one to catch heading into the DUNLOP Sydney 500. Heading into his first official weekend as a Blanchard Racing Team driver, Golding had the last laugh over Red Bull Ampol Racing star Broc Feeney, as they traded fastest lap times in the dying minutes.
Loose kangaroos suspend testing
A red flag was called after a mob of kangaroos jumped onto the track. Officials quickly moved to suspend the session as kangaroos emerged trackside near Turn 3.
Waters fastest through two hours
Cam Waters was on the pace in a Tickford Racing one-two as the session passed the halfway mark. Thomas Randle, Anton De Pasquale, Aaron Cameron and Jobe Stewart completed a surprise top five.
Officials inspect track
Thomas Randle led Session 2 of the Destination NSW Sydney Test Day, which was suspended through 30 minutes as officials inspected Turn 8 following mid-week track works.
Early stoppages
The first hour was interrupted by a red flag, called for gravel debris at the final corner. At that stage, only the Toyotas of Ryan Wood and Cameron Hill hadn't set a lap time. Nearing the two hour mark, more gravel was kicked up, triggering another stoppage, before a third was called half an hour later.
Brown leads early
The fastest driver in the 2025 test, Will Brown picked up where he left off by setting the quickest time through the opening hour of the Wednesday test. Brown took top spot away from Blanchard Racing Team recruit James Golding.
Payne quick, Golding flies
Matt Payne emerged on top of the time sheets through the opening hours, with red flags flying and rookies showing early promise. Bathurst champ Payne took over the top spot from Brown, while Golding flew through the short circuit section.
Brown back on top
Just before the session halted for practice starts, which preceded a 60-minute final run home, Brown vaulted back to the top. The #888 Ford clocked a 1:00.3458s, taking over from Payne to the tune of 0.16s. The #888 remained at the top as the final hour wound down.
