Circuit works lead to DNSW Sydney Test Day update
Supercars splits 2026 Sydney testing, to use short circuit
Sydney to open new season on February 20-22
The Repco Supercars Championship will split upcoming testing and will use a revised Sydney Motorsport Park layout ahead of Round 1 of the 2026 season.
Sydney Motorsport Park is currently undertaking urgent capital works at Turn 8, which are set to be completed and prepared in time for the Gardner Grand Prix Circuit to be used this week.
Supercars and circuit organisers have agreed on a plan to split the DNSW Sydney Test Day over two days, using two different circuit layouts.
Teams and drivers will use the Druitt Circuit on Wednesday between 8.30am to 12.30pm, and then on the Gardner Circuit on Thursday between 5.30pm to 9.30pm (all times local).
“After assessing options and consulting with teams, Supercars has elected to split this week’s Destination NSW Test Day across two days,” Supercars Chief Motorsport Officer Tim Edwards said.
"Sydney Motorsport Park is currently undertaking urgent capital works at Turn 8, after the track surface was damaged by a rising water table causing water to seep through the asphalt.
"These works require the installation of drainage and resurfacing of the affected area.
“The Druitt Circuit will provide the best alternative for the teams on Wednesday, and allows Sydney Motorsport Park to conduct necessary works as we move towards the race weekend."
The DUNLOP Sydney 500 opens the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship this weekend, February 20-22, with a Supercars race on each day of the three-day event. Tickets are on sale now.
