Brodie Kostecki closed out a second Larry Perkins Trophy win, after closest rival Broc Feeney suffered a big crash in the Melbourne SuperSprint finale.
Feeney entered the day as Kostecki's closest rival for the Perkins Trophy, sitting 41 points behind with 80 on offer on Sunday. However, when Feeney crashed, Kostecki was all but locked in for Perkins Trophy No. 2.
At the time of the incident, Kostecki needed only finish, or not be outscored by Cam Waters by 55 points. Kai Allen was 69 points down, and effectively needed a win and Kostecki DNF to pull off a Perkins Trophy miracle.
However, Kostecki won the Perkins Trophy in style, pressuring Will Brown into a mistake to win his third race of the weekend.
Feeney crash or not, the 2023 Supercars champion was class of the field, scoring 299 points of a maximum 320 on offer.
Kostecki won the trophy by a huge margin of 89 points, with Tickford Racing driver Waters second. Penrite Racing's Allen was third for the round, with Feeney fourth despite his final day DNF.
The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship resumes across the Tasman, with the ITM NZ Doubleheader kicking off in Taupō on April 10-12. Tickets are on sale now.
