Supercars’ first-ever event in Christchurch to follow April 17-19
April 7, 2026 – Supercars will celebrate its first-ever visit to New Zealand’s South Island with a free fan event in the heart of Christchurch on the eve of the inaugural ITM Christchurch Super 440.
The Repco Supercars Championship makes its highly-anticipated debut on the South Island April 17-19 at the ITM Christchurch Super 440, the Championship’s inaugural event at Christchurch’s Ruapuna Raceway.
In partnership with ChristchurchNZ, Supercars Fanfare will be held Thursday, April 16, revving up fans on The Green outside Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. NZST.
The event will be the only chance for fans to meet the entire Repco Supercars Championship grid before the race weekend, with an all‑in signing session from 5:00 p.m.
The free event will also feature a display of historic New Zealand race cars, Supercars course cars, and promotional vehicles, with exclusive giveaways available to attending fans.
Supercars Fanfare will open with a uniquely Christchurch welcome, as drivers arrive by waka on the Avon River alongside the event trophies and taonga. A Mihi Whakatau, led by Whitiora, will formally welcome Supercars to the city before the signing begins.
Supercars Fanfare takes place the day before cars hit the track for the first time in the South Island, marking a major milestone for the championship and for Christchurch.
The ITM Christchurch Super 440 at Ruapuna Raceway will be Supercars’ first championship race event ever held in the region.
It will also be the site where the coveted Jason Richards Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the driver who scores the most points across the Taupō and Christchurch events.
On-track action at Ruapuna begins Friday, April 17, with three races scheduled across the April 17-19 weekend.
