Supercars donates Peter Brock artwork to Bathurst museum
Special piece to remain on display at National Motor Racing Museum
Brock's life and legacy celebrated at 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000
Supercars has proudly donated a specially commissioned artwork celebrating the life and legacy of Peter Brock to the National Motor Racing Museum, where it will remain on permanent display for generations of motorsport fans to enjoy.
Created by renowned Bathurst artist Calum Hotham, the piece commemorates the 20th anniversary of Brock's passing and serves as a powerful tribute to one of the most significant figures in Australian sporting history.
The artwork was unveiled and displayed during the 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000 celebrations honouring Brock's extraordinary connection with Mount Panorama, a place where he forged a legacy unmatched in Australian motorsport through his record nine Bathurst victories and status as the 'King of the Mountain'.
Bathurst Regional Council Mayor Ben Fry said the permanent placement of the artwork in the National Motor Racing Museum was a fitting recognition of Brock's enduring connection with the city.
"Peter Brock's name is forever woven into the fabric of Bathurst and Mount Panorama. For generations of fans, he wasn't just a racing champion, he became part of the identity of this city and the Great Race itself," Cr. Fry said.
"Having this remarkable artwork created by local artist Calum Hotham permanently displayed in the National Motor Racing Museum ensures visitors from across Australia and around the world can continue to celebrate Peter's extraordinary contribution to motorsport. It is a fitting tribute in the city that played such a significant role in his story and where his legacy remains as strong as ever."
Supercars Government Relations Manager with Bathurst Regional Council, Shane Rudzis, said the artwork was a fitting way to ensure Brock's impact on Australian motorsport continued to be recognised in the place most synonymous with his success.
"Twenty years on from Peter's passing, his influence on our sport remains as strong as ever as we have seen over the past week. Generations of fans continue to be inspired by his achievements, his professionalism and the way he connected with people both on and off the track.," Rudzis said.
"This commissioned artwork by Calum Hotham is a fitting tribute to Peter's remarkable legacy and the special relationship he shared with Bathurst and Mount Panorama. We are proud to donate it to the National Motor Racing Museum, where it will be enjoyed by fans from around Australia and around the world for many years to come."
National Motor Racing Museum representatives welcomed the donation, noting the importance of preserving Brock's legacy as part of Australia's rich motorsport history.
The artwork now joins the Museum's extensive collection of vehicles, memorabilia and artefacts that tell the story of Australian motor racing and Mount Panorama's place at the heart of the sport.
The permanent display provides fans with another opportunity to reflect on Brock's enduring legacy and the profound impact he continues to have on Australian motorsport, two decades after his passing.
