Chaz Mostert keeps podium after investigation
Walkinshaw TWG Racing penalised after Gold Coast finale
Mostert fourth heading to Sandown Semi Final
Chaz Mostert will keep his Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 finale podium, but Walkinshaw TWG Racing has been penalised, after an investigation.
The reigning Supercars champion blazed to a fourth straight podium at Surfers Paradise, a day after he qualified for the Semi Final with a dominant victory.
Mostert's path to third on Sunday included a team orders swap in an attempt to help Walkinshaw TWG Racing teammate Ryan Wood qualify for Sandown.
Earlier, it emerged that Mostert was under investigation over an alleged pit stop breach.
The alleged breach was investigated post-race, with Walkinshaw TWG Racing issued a monetary fine and docked teams' championship points.
Mostert, though, remains third in the final classification. Motorsport Australia are yet to publish their findings as of the time of publication.
The alleged breach pertained to a note in the pre-event Authorised Representatives Briefing notes, which reads: "In each Race a refuelling tower is used, Teams are required to advise Supercars of the litres of fuel transferred to the Car in each Pit Stop via direct message on the Supercars Teams App, within 5 laps of the completed Pit Stop."
It initially appeared that the #1 would face investigation over the fuel hose being attached when the car was dropped onto the ground.
The teams' championship order changed as a result of the penalty, with Tickford Racing moving back ahead of Walkinshaw TWG into third for the Penrite Oil Sandown 500.
Mostert will commence the Semi Final in fourth.
Track action at Sandown will commence on Friday November 6.
