Tim Blanchard parks Finals thoughts on D-Day
James Golding one of five chasing last Finals spot
Golding/Richie Stanaway Ford to start from ninth
D-Day has arrived for the Blanchard Racing Team, which is chasing a come-from-behind Finals berth for James Golding at the last chance of asking.
The Golding/Richie Stanaway Mustang will launch from ninth for Sunday's Repco Bathurst 1000.
In Bathurst, BRT has done all it can to put the #7 CoolDrive Ford in the game. The Golding/Stanaway Ford was the only car to finish all six practice sessions in the top 10.
The Finals carrot is being dangled in front of the team, but BRT boss Tim Blanchard has something more immediate at the front of his mind.
"We've had a pretty good run up to the day, but so have a lot of other people," Blanchard told Supercars.com.
"You know, we're quietly confident we're gonna be competitive today, and we'll just hopefully execute well enough and see where we end up."
When asked if he had Finals in the back of his mind, Blanchard replied: "I think we shot ourselves in the foot at Tailem Bend.
"We need to try and win today, and if we win today, that'll probably sort itself out.
"We're not in a position to be thinking about that today."
The 161-lap classic commences at 11:30am AEDT.
