Chaz Mostert goes fastest in Bathurst Warm Up
Toyota top Bathurst Supercars session for first time
2026 Repco Bathurst 1000 to begin at 11:30am AEDT
Chaz Mostert and Fabian Coulthard have put Toyota on top in the final on track running before the 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000.
The #1 Mobil 1 Optus Toyota went fastest in the Sunday morning Warm Up, ending up substantially quicker than the chasing pack, which was led by the Red Bull Ampol Fords of Broc Feeney and Nick Percat.
Sunday morning's 20 minutes largely marked a final chance to run through race procedures and rehearse pit stops, with overall lap time not a major priority.
Team 18 veteran David Reynolds went fastest early on a 2:05.3860s, but he had an awkward moment when he came into pit lane as he drilled the left rear tyre that sitting next to his pit bay.
Mostert put the #1 Mobil 1 Optus Toyota on top with a 2:05.3206s just short of the halfway mark, with four of the five Supras inside the top 10, the exception being the Cameron Hill/Brad Vaughan entry that had an overnight engine change.
Jordan Boys and James Golding had another awkward moment in pit lane, the #7 Blanchard Racing Team Ford having to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting Boys in the #96 Brad Jones Racing Toyota as he was released into the fast lane.
Having had "the kitchen sink" thrown at his car overnight, Feeney was an encouraging second, with his Red Bull Ampol Racing teammate Brown in third, though both more than three and a half tenths off Mostert.
Brown was bumped down to fourth on the stroke of the chequered flag, as 2025 Bathurst winner Matt Payne jumped up into the top three late.
Reynolds finished the Warm Up in fifth, with the pole sitting Bendix Camaro of Bates/Aaron Seton 14th, and the Brodie Kostecki/Todd Hazelwood Shell V-Power Ford that will start from second down in 24th with reports of vibrations and steering shudder.
The stage is now set for the 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000, which will commence at 11:30am AEDT.
