Aaron Cameron shrugs off Brodie Kostecki comments after Sydney clash
Cameron, Kostecki traded barbs following last lap, last race collision in Sydney
BRT driver determined to back up Sydney speed after breakout weekend
Aaron Cameron isn't putting any extra energy into his Sydney run-in with Brodie Kostecki, with the Blanchard Racing Team driver determined to carry momentum into Melbourne.
Cameron and Kostecki will resume their 2026 Supercars campaigns at this weekend's Melbourne SuperSprint, just 11 days after they collided while disputing fourth place on the last lap of the final race in Sydney.
The incident set off a chain of events that saw Cameron finish 17th, Kostecki reclassified 12th after being hit with a penalty, and both drivers trade barbs in the media.
It also split opinions up and down the lane, with Supercars legends Craig Lowndes and Mark Winterbottom weighing in on the clash.
Blanchard Racing Team driver Cameron said he had a "brief chat” with Kostecki the day after the clash, but added that "nothing's really come out of it.”
Speaking on the eve of Round 2 at Albert Park, Cameron insists he isn’t looking in the rearview mirror.
“It's just something that happened at Sydney. He got a penalty for it, and we move on,” Cameron told Supercars.com.
"Like, I'm not going to be stuck on something that happened at Sydney. The team has better things to focus on, like car performance.
"We just want to keep our momentum rolling from Sydney, make fast cars and let the results do the talking.”
The Sydney round was a breakout weekend for BRT, with James Golding claiming Race 1 pole before joining Cameron on the podium.
Despite the speed, the weekend wasn’t without its gut punches too — BRT was outfoxed by Triple Eight and Broc Feeney on strategy in Race 1, before Cameron was turned around and Golding lost a wheel in Race 3.
The Cameron/Kostecki incident dominated headlines, especially as both drivers had their say.
Cameron, though, insisted that there were far too many positives to emerge from the weekend to leave Sydney with a bitter taste in his mouth, and that he hasn't read into Kostecki's return of serve.
“We had a brief chat on the Monday at the ride day, but nothing's really come out of it,” Cameron said.
“You just kind of press on and get to a race. I haven't actually read what he said. Everyone keeps trying to tell me what he said, but I haven't read into anything that he's said.
“Look, I'll certainly take learnings from what happened at Sydney. But for us, it came after a massive bounce back from having a quite a bad Saturday night, from tyre life and race pace.
"To bounce back like we did, and survive those sketchy wet conditions, and also have a car in every stint that could hold onto front grip, was really encouraging for us.
“There are too many positives to come out of the weekend to be focusing on something that happened on the last lap of the last race.”
The question on everyone’s lips is, can BRT keep it going?
Cameron firmly believes they can, emphasising that the Ford squad has come a long way since the turbulent days of intra-team crashes, driver changes, and a lack of overall speed.

“The guy and girls put in a huge amount of work on the off-season, and then for that to be all validated in actual car speed is really awesome,” Cameron said.
“Yes, we fell short with a few results in Sydney, but the first thing you need is speed. Now we've got speed, we can work on refining some of our backend systems to make sure we minimise our mistakes.
“The debrief was still pretty positive. We've got two trophies and a pole position sign to put up at the workshop, and that motivates all of us to keep pushing and keep the performance going.
“It's just such a contrast to last year where we were crashing cars and having driver changes. Now to have stability, we can just keep refining and focusing on what actually matters out there.
"It's really positive for the whole team, but also Jimmy and I. We want results and so far we're getting them, and hopefully at Albert Park, we can keep the cars up in that front group.
"If we can back it up with consistent top 10 speed this weekend... mate, I'll be pumped for all the boys and girls."
Track action in Melbourne commences on Thursday with two practice sessions, back-to-back Boost Mobile Qualifying sessions, and Race 4 of the season.
