Aaron Cameron launches scathing self review over unforced error
Cameron spun out in front of Will Brown after a Safety Car restart
BRT driver sits 15th in the championship through four races
Blanchard Racing Team driver Aaron Cameron has launched a scathing self review following his costly error midway through Thursday’s Melbourne SuperSprint.
Cameron spun out in front of Red Bull Ampol Racing driver Will Brown after a Safety Car restart in Race 4.
Holding seventh, Cameron lost the rear of his #3 LIQUI MOLY BLAHST Mustang and spun towards the grass. Live pictures suggested Brown tipped Cameron into a spin, before replays confirmed Cameron looped his Ford on his own.
Cameron dropped to the rear of the field, and crossed the line in 23rd, 24 seconds behind eventual winner Brodie Kostecki.
Where Cameron could have scored 45 points for seventh, he only took home 12, falling to 15th overall and 31 points outside the top 10.
It was yet another case of missed opportunity for Cameron, who was dumped from fourth to 17th by Kostecki on the final lap in Sydney, triggering a war of words.
In a social media video, Cameron didn’t hide his frustration, saying: “Aaron was doing a pretty decent job in seventh, then spun out of seventh on the restart like a gumby.
“Sorry to all the team and everyone that supports us, Aaron will be better tomorrow and it will not happen again.”
James Golding spared Cameron and BRT’s blushes with an untroubled run to fourth, but another strong result did go begging after Golding bogged down off the line.
Starting second, Golding lost track position to Broc Feeney off the line, before being pushed off the podium by Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne.
Cameron will start eighth for Friday’s Race 5, which will commence at 5:30pm local time.
