Aaron Cameron frustrated by costly Broc Feeney clash in Race 5
Fords collided midway through Friday Melbourne sprint, Cameron spun out
Cameron spun after contact with Kai Allen, following Feeney clash
Aaron Cameron has been left frustrated for the second day running, this time by a clash with Broc Feeney that left the LIQUI MOLY BLAHST Ford facing the wrong way.
Cameron started Friday’s race from eighth, and was sixth on lap 1. He cleared Feeney and Chaz Mostert four laps later, before Feeney attacked the Blanchard Racing Team driver.
Contact at Turn 13 saw Feeney and Cameron run side-by-side into Turn 14, where further contact brought Kai Allen into play.
Allen dived down the inside at the final corner, sending both himself and Cameron into a spin. Allen pressed on, while Cameron finished two laps down.
Feeney, meanwhile, finished seventh, his worst result of the season to date.
Speaking post race, BRT driver Cameron admitted he needs to reassess what he could have done better to avoid Friday’s outcome.
“Didn't get the result that I wanted, [that] all the team deserve,” Cameron said on social media.
“Quite frustrating. Good start. Good first lap. A lot happy with that today. Just had that incident there with Broc and Kai, so just gotta reassess and see what I need to do a bit better to make sure those things don't happen.
"Just gotta need to refocus and get these results for these last two races this weekend. Thanks to all the crew just. I gotta get it done now.”
It comes after Cameron spun out of seventh on Thursday while leading Will Brown, who was penalised on Friday over a clash with Cooper Murray.
Cameron sits 16th overall, 57 points behind 10th placed Allen, heading into Saturday's race.
Saturday’s action commences with dual Boost Mobile Qualifying sessions from 9:00am local time.
