Re-signed Thomas Randle had no temptation to explore market
Randle, Cam Waters locked in with Tickford Racing until 2027
2020 Super2 champ Randle joined Tickford full-time in 2022
Thomas Randle admits it was a “relief” to lock away his future with Tickford Racing, insisting he was never tempted to look elsewhere.
In a dual announcement on the eve of the recent Perth round, Tickford announced it had locked in Randle and Cam Waters until at least the end of 2027.
Waters and Randle have been main game teammates since 2022, with the former first joining the Ford squad full-time in 2016.
Save for a Brad Jones Racing enduro start in 2020, Randle has been a fixture of Tickford since racing for team's Super2 squad in 2018.
While the attention was on Waters and if General Motors could pull off a coup, Randle has been going about his business, becoming a regular podium contender.
Speaking in Perth, Randle said: “I think any driver would agree that it's a bit of relief when you know where you are for the next couple of years.
“To be at Tickford is fantastic. It is where I got my Super2 debut back in 2018 and my main game series debut as well.“It is like a home to me and it is a great team vibe. We have really good morals and all of that sort of stuff.
“I really enjoy it there and Cam and I work quite well together, so it is cool that he has re-signed as well and that joint announcement was a lot of fun.”
When asked if he looked at the market, Randle said: “Not really… the deal has been done for a bit now.
“But talking after the end of last year was kind of like ‘alright I think we are all pretty happy and we have had really good progression over the last three seasons and just want to continue that momentum.
“Not just the relationship with Cam and I, but also myself and my engineer [Chris] Stuckey, and all the guys and girls at the team and factory.
“I have built great relations with them over the last seven years, and it is just cool to continue what we are building. Hopefully we can get some more podiums and that elusive win as well.”
Randle is sixth in the championship heading to Darwin on June 20-22.
