Racing schedule released for 2025 Sydney season opener

Supercars has announced the on-track schedule for next month’s Sydney 500, which will open the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship across February 21-23 at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The event at Sydney Motorsport Park will be the kick off event for what is set to be a revolutionary year in the championship, which features all-new formats and the first ever Supercars Finals series to determine a champion.

Supercars will race all three days of the season-opening event, with night races on Friday (100km) and Saturday (200km), finished with a late afternoon contest on Sunday (200km).

Next month’s event will see 2024 Supercars champion Will Brown begin his title defence, while reigning Repco Bathurst 1000 winner Brodie Kostecki suits up for Dick Johnson Racing for the very first time.

Rookies Kai Allen and Cooper Murray will kickstart their full-time Supercars careers, while previous race winners Anton De Pasquale and Richie Stanaway also suit up with new teams.

Also announced on Monday was a 25th Supercars entry for the season opener, with Matt Stone Racing fielding Cameron Crick in a wildcard entry, marking the Camden, NSW native’s first solo Supercars start.

The event will also be the season-opener for the Dunlop Super2 Series, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2025, and will see Canberra’s Zach Bates begin his quest to go back-to-back in the development series.

Porsche Carrera Cup, V8 SuperUtes, and Touring Car Masters also join the bill in what will culminate in three days of on-track action.

A raft of off-track entertainment and activations are also planned for the Sydney 500, with exciting further details to be revealed in the coming weeks.

The 2025 season opener will be broadcast live on Foxtel and the Seven Network, with live streaming available on Kayo and 7plus.
