Rookie keeps podium despite wheel going towards fast lane in stop
Penrite Racing fined, docked points over pit stop breach
Kai Allen will keep his maiden Supercars podium despite Penrite Racing copping penalties over a pit stop error in Saturday's second Darwin race.
Allen, 19, soared to a maiden Supercars podium on Saturday at the betr Darwin Triple Crown.
However, his charge to third included a stop in which a Penrite Racing crew member lost control of a wheel, which rolled towards the fast lane.
According to Supercars rules, all equipment and parts “must always be under the complete control of the designated pit crew” during stops.
Following a hearing, Penrite Racing was docked 30 teams’ championship points and fined $1500. The Ford team, however, still remains ahead of rivals Walkinshaw Andretti United in the teams' championship.
