James Courtney claimed BRT's first ever Supercars podium in Perth
BRT the final team on the grid to claim their maiden silverware
All 11 teams have now claimed podiums since the Gen3 era began in 2023
James Courtney's shock podium in Race 16 of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship at the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 was historic for a number of reasons.
Not only was it the first trip to the rostrum for John and Tim Blanchard's eponymous squad since becoming a standalone operation in 2021, but it completed a unique piece of history across the Supercars grid.
BRT were the only team yet to record a podium finish in Supercars prior to Perth, but a late-race Safety Car on Sunday benefitted Courtney, who was vaulted up the leaderboard after completing his final compulsory stop during the neutralisation.
As revealed on Supercars' Cool Down Lap podcast, every team has now claimed a podium during the Gen3 era, which started in Newcastle in 2023.
BRT became the third team in two and a half years to record their maiden podiums in Gen3, the others being Matt Stone Racing (Jack Le Brocq, Darwin 2023), and PremiAir Racing (James Golding/David Russell, Sandown 2024).
MSR's first podium with Le Brocq was also their first win in Supercars, and came just 24 hours after Team 18 also broke their victory duck with Mark Winterbottom at Hidden Valley.
Courtney's result is further proof of just how competitive the Repco Supercars Championship has been in 2025, with the 2010 champion launching five places to 16th in the standings.
It caps off a big fightback for the Victorian operation, who were last by a considerable margin in Taupō, with former Supercars full-timer and team principal Tim Blanchard hailing the team's efforts to turn their fortunes around.
“What a turnaround from where we were in New Zealand. It was a much better weekend," said Blanchard in a Ford Performance media release.
“It’s been a fair old journey for the team and we were fortunate with a Safety Car on Sunday, but we rolled the dice and it went our way with James Courtney.
“We had a horrible first three rounds of the championship, then took a step forward in Tassie and continued this weekend. It’s still a long way to go to challenge the front-runners on a regular basis but this is great. We will enjoy it."
The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship continues at the betr Darwin Triple Crown from June 20-22. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
