As excitement continues to build for this weekend’s Repco Bathurst 1000, Supercars has announced its continued partnership with Transport for NSW, aiming to raise awareness around safe driving in New South Wales.

Supercars and Transport have held a long-term partnership that has sought to encourage safe driving habits around the Great Race each October.

This year’s partnership is set to target crucial road safety issues including speeding and driver fatigue, particularly relevant messaging for fans traveling to and from the iconic Bathurst 1000 event, often from extensive distances.

Transport is also teaming up with the NSW Police to present a safety exhibit for motoring enthusiasts at this year’s Great Race. The compelling exhibit will feature two crash lab vehicles, providing a firsthand demonstration of the devastating impact of automotive accidents. Additionally, an interactive virtual mirror allows visitors to "try on" various types of motorcycle safety gear while learning about MotoCAP safety testing and the rigorous safety testing of jackets, pants, and gloves.

Damien Pfeiffer, A/Regional Director West at Transport, emphasized the significance of this partnership, saying, "As we approach race week, Transport is in close collaboration with the NSW Police, diligently coordinating traffic management, swift responses to network incidents, robust enforcement of road rules, and an unwavering commitment to safety.

“During race week, Transport actively engages in public education initiatives aimed at enhancing the safety of both motorists and pedestrians. Our ultimate aim is to ensure that every individual travelling to and from this iconic event not only enjoys their time in Bathurst but also returns home safely."

Shane Rudzis, Strategic Partnerships Manager at Supercars, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "This year's Repco Bathurst 1000 is expected to draw one of the largest crowds in the event's history, with fans traveling long distances to be a part of this thrilling experience.

“Ensuring our fans arrive safely in Bathurst, enjoy this fantastic event, and return home safely is of utmost importance to us. Partnering with Transport for the Repco Bathurst 1000 event is a significant step towards achieving this goal.

“We encourage all fans to visit the Transport / NSW Police activation space located in the National Motor Racing Museum Car Park within the event precinct over the multiple days of the event."

The Repco Bathurst 1000 celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, with on-track action taking place October 5-8 at Mount Panorama.

Supercars and Transport are committed to not only delivering an unforgettable racing experience, but also ensuring the safety and well-being of all those traveling to and from the iconic event.
