The stewards' official report on racing incidents this weekend

Stewards Summary Update #3: issued Sunday 19th June 2016 at 1700hrs (CST).

Matters arising on Sunday 19th June 2016.

Matters from Race 13

The Stewards imposed the following Pit Lane Penalties:

  • Car #8, Jason Bright, for driving at an excessively slow speed during SC intervention period 1;

  • Car #8, Jason Bright, for a Pit Lane infringement (spinning wheels during pit stop);

  • Car #1, Mark Winterbottom, for a driving infringement (contact with Car #15 at Turn 1 on Lap 7);

  • Car #96, Dale Wood, for a driving infringement (contact with Car #222 at Turn 14 on Lap 39);

  • Car #1, Mark Winterbottom, for a driving infringement (contact with Car #4 at Turn 7 on Lap 62).

An investigation was conducted into the incident involving contact between Car #9, David Reynolds, and Car #17, Scott Pye, at Turn 6 on Lap 8. No breach of the rules was established.

Matters from Top Ten Shootout (Race 13)

An investigation was conducted into an alleged breach of parc ferme conditions by Car #888, Craig Lowndes, post run. No breach of the rules was established.

Matters from Qualifying for Race 13

There were no issues.

Outcome of investigations from Race 12:

Investigations were conducted into the following incidents and it was determined there was no breach of the rules established:

  • Alleged false start by Car #8, Jason Bright;

  • Contact between Car #15, Rick Kelly, and Car #888, Craig Lowndes, at Turn 5 on Lap 1;

  • Contact between Car #14, Tim Slade, and Car #15, Rick Kelly, at Turn 5 on Lap 1; and

  • Contact between Car #12, Fabian Coulthard, and Car #6, Cam Waters, at Turn 6 on Lap 7.

Stewards Summary Update #1: issued Saturday 18th June 2016 at 1815hrs (CST).

Matters from Race 12:

The Stewards imposed a PLP on Car #97, Shane van Gisbergen, for failure to comply with Safety Car restart procedure (overtaking before the control line).

An investigation is continuing in respect of the incident involving contact between Car #14, Tim Slade, Car #15, Rick Kelly, and Car #888, Craig Lowndes, at Turn 5 on Lap 1.

Matters from Competitors and Driver Briefing

The Stewards imposed a fine of $250 on each of Aaren Russell, David Reynolds and Erebus Motorsport V8 Trust for failing to attend the Competitors and Driver briefing at the nominated time (Rule D4.1.3).
