Record grids highlight Sydney support categories

The ARMOR ALL Sydney SuperNight has featured two bumper state category grids on the Repco Supercars Championship undercard.

A record 53-car field lined up for final round of the NSW Production Touring Cars Championship.

The NSW Formula Ford Championship returned with a star-studded 30 car field.

It marked the first NSW Production Touring Cars Championship and NSW Formula Ford events since May.

Both categories returned after long lay-offs amid the COVID-19 outbreak in NSW.

Both categories featured three races, with two held in wet conditions on Sunday.

Formula Ford goes airborne in massive wipeout

Ben Bargwanna, son of 2000 Bathurst winner Jason, won the first two races of the NSW Production Touring Cars weekend.

Tom Sargent defeated Noah Sands in the opening two races of the Formula Ford weekend.

Sargent managed to beat Sands in a stunning drag to the line in Race 2 by just 0.02s.

Zach Bates, who dominated last weekend's Toyota 86 Series round in Sydney, also took to the Formula Ford field.

The field also featured two-time NSW state champion Mitch Gatenby.

The production series featured a typically diverse array of production cars, ranging from BMW M4s and HSV GTS to Mazda 3s, Suzuki Swifts and Hyundai Excels.

Supercars will return to the circuit for Race 24 at 4:35pm AEDT, with Race 25 to round out the ARMOR ALL Sydney SuperNight at 7:30pm.
