Online racing champions combine for Eseries attack

Former Super2 Series talent and one of Australia’s greatest sim racers is set to return to Supercars competition.

Justin Ruggier will again team up with series naming rights sponsor Cash Converters for the upcoming Supercars Eseries.

Ruggier will compete in the All Star Series, with long-term online racing talent Brenton Hobson to take on the Pro Series for the brand.

Sydneysider Ruggier returns to the Eseries for the second year, after recording three top ten results in 2021.

One of sim racing’s greatest success stories in Australia, Ruggier enjoyed a successful real world racing career before turning to online competition.

The 2014 V8 Touring Car Series winner has over a decade of experience in virtual racing, winning competitions with the Williams and McLaren F1 team.

He regularly teams up with Shane van Gisbergen for virtual endurance events and has competed alongside Max Verstappen.

“I’m really happy to represent Cash Converters again, we were very competitive last season," Ruggier said.

“I’m looking forward to working hard with Cash Converters to be consistent this season, although open setups will be tough compared to be fixed setups last year."

Experienced online racer Hobson will make his long-awaited return to the Supercars Eseries.

The sim racer contested the series in 2019, recording seven top ten results.

Hobson claimed the GSRC V8 Elite Series title last month, winning 13 of the 15 races.

 The Cash Converters Supercars Pro Eseries will commence on July 20.

This year’s competition will take place on the iRacing platform, with six weekly rounds running on Wednesday nights from July 20 to August 24.

The Eseries will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506, Kayo, 7Plus, as well as streamed on Supercars’ Twitch, Facebook and YouTube channels.
