Victory eluded Chaz Mostert and Fabian Coulthard, but they still helped Walkinshaw Andretti United extend a stunning streak.

Mostert and Coulthard finished second in Sunday’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

It was Mostert’s third straight Bathurst podium, and Coulthard’s first since 2017.

Mostert has never missed the podium while racing for WAU.

Remarkably, WAU hasn’t missed the Bathurst podium since 2017.

Scott Pye/Warren Luff finished second in 2017 and 2018, with James Courtney/Jack Perkins third in 2019.

Mostert has finished on the podium with three different drivers three years in a row.

He was third with Luff in 2020, and won with Lee Holdsworth last December.

While disappointed to miss out on a maiden win, Coulthard was pleased to edge ever closer to glory.

“It’s awesome,” Coulthard said.

“I’ve been coming to Bathurst since 2004 and I’ve only had two podiums, this being the second.

“Incrementally third, second, hopefully first isn’t too far away.

“Any time you can stand on that podium and look out at the crowd... it’s definitely the best podium of the year.”

Mostert moved into second after WAU jumped Brodie Kostecki during the final stops.

Shane van Gisbergen proved too large an obstacle to overcome, but Mostert was delighted to keep WAU on the Bathurst podium for another year.

“We didn’t quite get the win today, but so proud of everyone to get second, I love this team,” he said.

“Fabs did a fantastic job, the team did absolutely everything they could, it just didn’t quite go as smooth as we wanted.

“We definitely can’t be disappointed with standing on the Bathurst podium after the weekend.

“It hurts a little bit not to get that win, but still an amazing feeling."

The 2022 season will continue at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 on October 28-30.
