Chaz Mostert is eyeing a Walkinshaw Andretti United fightback after a "solid" Winton test.

Victorian teams tested last week at the circuit, which will host this weekend’s Pizza Hut Winton SuperSprint.

WAU is under the microscope at Winton following its disappointing last-start efforts in Perth.

Both Mostert and Nick Percat battled to even get beyond 20th, let alone aim for the top 10.

It came after Mostert won races at Albert Park.

This weekend's event will be solely run on Dunlop's Super Soft tyre.

"It’s really important to start the weekend well here in practice," Mostert said.

"We had a solid test day last week, we’ve been working hard to get back on the right track, so let's see how we go.

"It’s great to be going back to Winton, we’ve been there a bit over the past few years testing but to go back and have a weekend racing there is great.

"The crowd there is always awesome, and it’s great to get out regionally as well."

Percat added: "It always throws a lot of challenges at teams and drivers, and getting temp in the tyre for qualifying is really important, and can be tricky to be honest.

"Everyone at WAU has been working really hard since Perth to put that behind us, and are really excited to get to the track and get started."

The first Winton round since 2019 has been preceded by WAU’s announcement it will race Fords in 2023.

The team also confirmed Jayden Ojeda will make a wildcard start for the team at Winton.

The Sydneysider also took to Winton at the test last week, and is motivated to slot into a rhythm.

"Really excited to get out there this weekend," Ojeda said.

“It's been fantastic working with the whole team here, so I just can’t wait for tomorrow morning to be honest.

"It will be an action-packed weekend, but we had a really productive test day last week.

“It’s a track I’ve done a lot of laps at in a Supercar, so hopefully we can settle in quickly and build confidence as the weekend progresses."
