A new look racing programme and competitive ticketing will feature at the ITM 500 Auckland V8 Supercars at Pukekohe over ANZAC weekend next year.
V8 Supercars are keen to develop New Zealand’s largest annual sporting event and the success achieved in Auckland earlier this year.
“We were delighted to attract almost 120,000 fans over the three days this year and we want to build on this with added amenities and opportunities for the ANZAC weekend racing in 2014,” said V8 Supercars CEO, James Warburton.
“The programme for next year’s racing is going to be action packed with over 500km of V8 Supercar racing, with all the thrills of pit stops for compulsory tyre changes and fuel.”
Motorsport fans will be able to experience support category action on Thursday 24 April, before an afternoon start on ANZAC Day with V8 Supercars race action including the first 100km race. There will be two further 100km races on Saturday and one 200km race on Sunday.
Tickets for the extended race programme go on sale today at www.ticketek.co.nz with prices ranging from NZ$168 for unreserved seating to NZ$228 for Gold seating over the four days.
Unreserved seating will be available in Fanstands around the race circuit including the inside of the new turn six, from $168 for a four-day ticket.
The Gold Grandstand, a covered stand above the start-finish line with amenities and V8 Supercars Paddock Access, is available for $228 for the four days. This is a saving of $47 and available until sold out.
The first 1000 fans can purchase Trackside tickets at the V8 Supercars special pre-Christmas offer rate.
The deal offers a Four-Day Adult General Admission from $73 (a saving of $57), a Weekend Adult ticket from $58 (saving $52) or a Single Day Adult ticket from just $23, less than half price (saving $27). This offer ends on 24 December unless sold out earlier.
Activity to promote next year’s event begins later this month with a drivers’ road show across the South Island of New Zealand.
V8 Supercar drivers will tour ITM stores in the South Island, visiting Nelson, Christchurch, Cromwell and Invercargill from 25 November to 29 November.
Kiwi drivers Fabian Coulthard and rookie Scott McLaughlin, currently fifth and 10th respectively in the V8 Supercars Championship, will visit Nelson on 25 November and will be joined by fellow Kiwi and seventh placed Shane van Gisbergen for two functions in Christchurch on 26 and 27 November.
Former V8 Supercars Champion Rick Kelly and German Maro Engel, who drive the new Nissan Altima and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG brands respectively this year, will make appearances in Cromwell and Invercargill on Thursday 28 November and Friday 29 November. Van Gisbergen will also be in Cromwell.
Each appearance at select ITM stores will give fans the chance to meet the drivers, grab an autograph and enjoy other entertainment.
The 2013 V8 Supercars Championship event attracted 117,000 fans to the revamped Pukekohe Park Raceway, over three days.
