Get to know: Mark Dutton

Red Bull boss Mark Dutton has made some big calls this season, balancing teammates Jamie Whincup and Shane van Gisbergen’s strategies and performances.

He sat down with supercars.com to answer our quick questions to give us an insight to what he is like away from the track ahead of appearing on Inside Supercars tonight.

‘Dutto’ has been with Triple Eight since the team’s beginning and won five championships with Whincup before stepping up in 2014 to run the team and handing the reins to David Cauchi.

SC: What was the last sporting event or concert you attended?

MD: My kids’ footy! Kids rugby. 

Do you have a signature dish in the kitchen?

Yes, I’ve got a couple – my go-to is chicken and corn soup.

Your go-to karaoke song?

There’s lots of different ways to answer that – I have a theme song, ‘Just Another Day’ by John Mellencamp. That’s my life motto.

Your favourite off-track memory this year?

My brother’s wedding in Canada. 

If you could choose any two drivers in the field to race for you at Bathurst, who would you choose?

I’m pretty happy with who we’ve got! I wouldn’t pick anyone else.

To choose just two … I’d go back to the old school way, and pair them together. We’d probably have to pair Jamie and Craig together, because Gizzy is too tall.

What’s on your bucket list?

I'd take my boys to Ibiza when they are old enough [Dutton has three kids – Mark, 15; Michael, 11; and Riley, 9].
